We stand for a Senate

  • which makes its decisions keeping in mind the University as a whole and its future development,
  • which takes the multiple fields and their cultures into a balanced account in all Faculties and Centers,
  • which works together with the Rectorate, the University Board, the Faculties and Centers in a competent, constructive and independent manner,
  • which communicates with honesty, transparency and mutual respect.


We guarantee ...

decision making based on facts, correct information and specific competences. This is of imperative importance for the Senate, in the fiedls of

  • implementation of new curricula and the modification of existing ones,
  • legal issues related to changes in the general legal framework, university regulations and rules of procedure,
  • participation and leadership in working groups of the Senate,
  • constructive collaboration in the production of the development and organization plans, with a constant inclusion of all Faculties and Centers of the University of Vienna in the process.

expertise and commitment in matters of policy in higher education and the social agenda of the University, for example regarding

  • social justice, diversity and inclusion,
  • health care and a balance between work and private life,
  • environmental sustainability and careful handling of resources,
  • sensibly designed digitalization and the responsible use of AI.


We warrant ...

consideration of all perspectives of different fields and their cultures, from Faculties and Centers of the University of Vienna in all its diversity and breadth, not of particular interests of individuals.

independence from associations and interest groups that purpuse partiular goals.

transparent communication and decision-making structures, with options of participation addressed to the University as a whole, bymeans of

  • regularly held "jour fixe" meetings with the speakers of the Curiae and the moderators from all Faculties and Centers,
  • reports to Faculty and Centre conferences and meetings of the Curiae,
  • transparent and clearly communicated procedures in the curricular work as well as in the appointment of commissions,
  • discussion and exchange between all groups of our University,
  • constructive dialog with members of the Rectorate and the University Board,
  • solution- and goal-oriented team work.


We are ...

  • more than 30 scholars and scientists who are willing to spend the next three years shaping the further development of the University of Vienna,
  • professors, with rich experience in diverse administrative positions of our University,
  • the only list based on a bottom-up process in candidate selection from all Faculties and Centres of the University.
